My intention today is to be strong.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27 NIV
What do I fear?
The question is straight forward; the answer, complex.
I fear some things that are common to many:
- heights
- bees
- spiders
- traffic
- crowds
Some fears come from experience. I’ve been stung by a bee. I’ve had spiders crawl over me in the night. I’ve felt anxiety when in a small room with lots of people. I really don’t like traffic and especially inattentive drivers. Heights is my irrational fear. I’ve not fallen. I’ve not seen people fall from great heights. Really nothing to base this on.
There are fears that are more about life itself. Questions of how will I live, will I have enough to pay the bills, come up from time to time? How will I manage if left alone?
We are encouraged to “be not afraid”. That’s a pretty tall order some days.
Do you face your fears head on? Do you take your fears and give them a good shake?
There are times in life when being strong is the best option; when facing those fears is necessary for you to continue.
There are times when you dig in your heels and find the faith that lies deep within.
Is today a day like that for you?
My prayer is that whatever you face today you find that strength that’s there for you.
We walk this path together.
Let’s shine a light on the darkness as we journey!
Remember, all spiders are more afraid of you, than you are of them, or so Mom said…
